MOUNT VERNON — The new year brings new assignments for the Knox County Commissioners, who serve on a number of boards which set policy for local, county and regional organizations. Commissioners attend these meetings mostly on days and evenings other than during their normal office hours.
Normal office hours were again set as Monday and Thursday of every week, from 10 a.m. to the close of business for the day. Commissioner Robert Wise, who was voted president of the board of commissioners for 2010, said they can arrange discussions with constituents before 10 a.m. and in the evening on those days.
“We just want people to know we’re a welcoming board,” Wise said. “We’ll work with them to schedule a time to meet.”
The commissioners kept most of their previous board assignments, switching a few after discussion about who might have particular insights that would help them serve on certain boards. Some assignments reflect background knowledge or specialties of the commissioners.
Teresa A. Bemiller was appointed to the following organizations for 2010: Knox County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Family and Children First Council, Solid Waste Policy Board, Solid Waste Executive Board, Solid Waste Budget/Audit Committee, Mid-Ohio Transit Authority Board, 9-1-1 Board, and the county’s Investment Board. Bemiller was also voted vice president of the board.
Wise was appointed to The Station Break Senior Citizens Center Board, Local Emergency Planning Commission, Adult Emergency Assistance Board, Emergency Food and Shelter Board, Revolving Loan Board, Ohio Public Works Commission — Issue Two alternate, Heart of Ohio Regional Council for Development and the Board of Revisions.
Allen Stockberger was appointed to the R.S.V.P. Advisory Board, Emergency Management Agency, Fair Housing Board, Ohio Public Works Commission — Issue Two, and the Area Development Foundation. Wise and Stockberger were also appointed to the Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission for 2010. The commissioners reappointed Rochelle Shackle as clerk and administrator for 2010.
