  • TRW to transition out of Mount Vernon

  • January 19, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Kelsey-Hayes Company, a subsidiary of TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. announced its intention to close its Mount Vernon facility in the third quarter of 2010.

“The announcement today is in no way a reflection on the work force in the Mount Vernon facility,” said Doug DelGrosso, vice president for the TRW North America Braking Business. “However, the Mount Vernon plant has experienced rapidly declining sales volumes for its existing business and has been unable to win new business to replace it. This has led to increasing overcapacity, making the planned closure necessary.”

TRW plans to assist its workers in transitioning to new employment through outplacement support and job training programs, subject to discussions with the hourly workers’ union.
