MOUNT VERNON — A Glen Road man was injured when a log flipped up on his tractor in an accident that occurred Wednesday, just after noon. Tom Gregory, 50, was flown by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center for treatment. He is listed in serious condition today by the hospital.
His son-in-law, Jeff Gore, said Gregory was pulling a log downhill from the woods where he was working when apparently the tractor slipped on muddy ground. One wheel of the tractor caught the log and flipped it up in the air, hitting Gregory on the back and head.
He was knocked out, but came to and used his cell phone to call home for help. Gore said he went to the scene and cut the log off his father-in-law. The College Township squad was called to the scene and transported Gregory to the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene, where the helicopter landed in the parking lot.
