The contract termination hearing for Mount Vernon Middle School teacher John Freshwater has been going on intermittently for more than a year. That, apparently, is not an unusual situation.
Knox County property owners will now have until Friday, Feb. 19, to pay 2009 property taxes.
Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis and the staff at the water/wastewater office are looking for ways to help residents make their payments and keep their water turned on.
Figures released Wednesday by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles show that 329,000 people have been hit with a new late fee since it became effective in October.
They used whatever they had: A broom, a fast food bag, a plastic cup or their bare hands.
