  • February 1, 2010

FREDERICKTOWN — Fredericktown Middle School world history students had an opportunity to listen to and talk with a Nairobi native who is a Francisan priest. Father Titus is on holiday in the United States, brought here by a Danville native John Chadel.

Chadel, retired from a career in the U.S. Air Force, went on a mission trip to Nairobi, where he met Father Titus and paid for his trip to the United States. Chadel’s nephew, Michael Chadel, is a student at Fredericktown and brought Father Titus to talk to the students.

The 35-year-old Titus brought a map to show students the part of Africa where he grew up and where he works. He has a slide show of his area showing the native people going about their daily lives. Titus said that after high school, Irish Catholic missionaries chose him for his college and seminary education and training. He now works with the church in his home area.
