  • EK board discusses drug testing for athletes

HOWARD — When it met Wednesday, the East Knox School board took the first step toward placing an issue on the May 4 ballot which would provide money for the district’s operating expenses. Voters will be asked to approve a 1 percent tax on earned income only.

Treasurer Jessica Busenburg said the various cost containment measures have been working; expenditures so far this year are $66,000 less than at the same time last school year. However, she said, the district’s cash balance is $700,000 less than it was on Jan. 31, 2009.
