CENTERBURG — Due to financial reasons, and long-term declining enrollment in certain classes, the Centerburg school board on Monday passed a resolution to implement a reduction in force for the 2010-11 school year. That means that effective July 1, one vacant social studies position at the middle/high school will not be filled and the industrial arts program will be eliminated. The teaching contract for Dennis Allen, grades seven through 12 industrial arts, was suspended, as was that of Robert Hoepfner, comprehensive science, grades seven through 12.
Board members said they regretted having to take the action, but found it necessary.
