MOUNT VERNON — Although area school districts last evening announced a two-hour delayed start for this morning, all schools are again closed. One factor in the decision to close was the continuation of the Level 2 snow emergency declared several days ago by Knox County Sheriff David Barber.
“Our hope in calling for a two-hour delay last night was that the drifting would stop, that we would be able to get out on the roads and be able to get buses and students to school safely,” said Mount Vernon school superintendent Steve Short. “This morning we were still under a Level 2. Sheriff Barber has people out and about on the county roads. We have people out. He felt it needed to be a Level 2, and I respect his judgment.
