  • Clandestine lab found at hotel in Mansfield

  • February 18, 2010

MANSFIELD — On Tuesday, the METRICH Enforcement Unit, Mansfield Police Department and Capt. Lance Combs of Shelby Police Department responded to a possible clandestine lab at the Holiday Inn at 116 Park Avenue West, Mansfield.

Someone from the cleaning crew reported that they had cleaned a room and believed that the prior tenant had left behind by-products of a clandestine lab. It was determined by the METRICH Enforcement Unit Clandestine Lab Response Team that the by-products were ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine, commonly used in a clandestine lab.

After the evaluation was completed by the METRICH Enforcement Unit Clandestine Lab Response Team, the Drug Enforcement Agency and a Clandestine Lab Crew responded from Marion and secured the products.

METRICH urges anyone that believes they have information about a possible clandestine lab to contact the METRICH Enforcement Unit or their local law enforcement agency immediately. Common signs of a clandestine lab are a chemical or pungent odor, tubing, glass containers, coffee filters, batteries, aluminum foil, salt, drain cleaner and isopropyl alcohol.
