  • Makeup days needed for some local schools

  • February 20, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Snow, snow and more snow this winter has resulted in school closings as well as many one- or two-hour delays of the start of the school day.

Although delaying the start of the school day can be decidedly inconvenient, districts do not have to make up time missed when schools operate on a two-hour delay. The use of delayed starts means fewer makeup days will be needed, but the heavy jabs of snow and ice received in the county will mean local schools will have to add school days to this year’s calendar.
