MOUNT VERNON — On Monday, Knox County Commissioners held the formalities of a viewing and a hearing to vacate a bypassed section of Hyatt Road. This officially removes a stretch of road from the county road system, turning part of the bypassed stretch over to Morris Township to maintain as an access road to reach the driveway of property owner Victor Miller Jr.

“One pass of the snowplow up and down isn’t bad,” said Terry Maloney, chairman of the Morris Township Trustees, adding that the end of the paved road is a convenient spot for dumping branches in an emergency clean-up situation, until they can be permanently disposed of later.
