MOUNT VERNON — Through their promotion and dedication, downtown businesses infuse vitality into the district, said Lynne Ricard, downtown manager and director of the Heritage Centre Association.

Because of the hard work and effort of the downtown merchants, the customers feel welcome to shop, dine and enjoy the historic beauty of the business district. Thursday, in recognition of their efforts, the Heritage Centre Association presented awards to its members, from its members.

“A nomination form is sent out to the members and the members choose the nominees,” said Ricard, adding that each member is given a month to evaluate the nominees and vote on each category. “I think the members look for involvement when it comes to voting.”
