  • Parking problems discussed at Gambier

GAMBIER — Parking problems at the Kenyon Athletic Center were a concern voiced by Gambier Mayor Kirk Emmert at Monday’s Village Council meeting. Two meets at the KAC on Sunday led to a lack of parking space, and the village having to make accommodations to provide enough parking for visitors and participants.

“Large, non-college track and field meets were held at the KAC Sunday,” Emmert reported to council. “An unusual conjunction led to both of these being scheduled for the same day. The KAC does not have adequate parking space to accommodate large crowds at some of these events.”

The village temporarily made Meadow Lane one way, and allowed for extended parking on Wiggin Street to meet the parking needs on Sunday.

Emmert said the village needed to work with the college to find a more permanent solution to the problem of insufficient parking for large events. He also noted the need to work with Kenyon on a solution to the problem of people being dropped off at the main entrance
