Lost control

This morning, heading westbound on East Chestnut Street, driver Harold Donaldson lost control of his Ford Ranger LXT truck as he failed to yield to the traffic light and hit the side porch of a house on the corner of Mulberry Street. No one was hurt but damage was sustained to the front end of the vehicle. (Kenesha Beheler)

A snow creature

Eric and John Wharton, Centerburg, are shown with a snow creature which recently appeared on their front lawn. They are the sons of Andy and Barbara Wharton. Their mother explained the creature to family members by saying, “We found this in the kids’ closet and luckily chased it out onto the lawn before anyone got hurt. I’m hoping this little scare will encourage them to keep their rooms cleaner from now on.” (Submitted Photo)

Cleaning out the old

The last of the old Bullock’s Smoke Shop on Coshocton Avenue was in the process of being hauled away Tuesday morning. It will be replaced by a Kroger fueling station. According to Kroger spokeswoman Amy McCormick, Kroger will be setting in fuel tanks beginning March 10 and hope to open early this summer. (George Breithaupt)
