MOUNT VERNON — What is everything? Two old saws cut different ways: One says that “timing is everything,” the other says “location, location, location” is everything. When both are combined at the same time, there may not be a name for it, but it certainly bodes well for what results.
In this case, the two sayings were united right after a concert of the Knox County Symphony in 2008, when Kenyon College piano professor Dr. John Reitz had just finished playing Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2” in Rosse Hall in Gambier. Reitz was talking with audience members after the show and was in the process of remarking to Mary Ann Pomputius that he would love to give a piano recital in Mount Vernon’s Memorial Theater someday, perhaps as a fundraiser.
