  • City prepares for two projects

  • March 9, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — When putting together its 2010 budget, City Council set aside money for several infrastructure maintenance projects. Monday night, council gave the safety-service director the go-ahead to advertise for bids and enter into contract for two of those projects.

One project is the rehabilitation of the Wooster Road elevated water storage tank. According to Safety-Service Director Dave Glass, the tank was built in 1977 and has been refurbished once since then. The 2010 project includes some safety upgrades, as well as painting the exterior and interior of the tank. The cost is around $250,000; this includes engineering and contingency fees. Glass said the exterior painting portion will cost around $90,000, as containment will have to be erected around the tank.
