  • Goetzman adds Jeep to its lineup of vehicles

  • March 9, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Goetzman Chrysler Dodge has added Jeep to its lineup of vehicles for sale. According to Kerry Goetzman, this is a consolidation of the brand with existing Chrysler dealerships.

“They closed the existing dealer here and are trying to put all their brands into one dealership,” he said. “We have Chrysler/Dodge already. What they are trying to do is consolidate the brands in smaller areas.”

Goetzman said Chrysler — of which Jeep is a division — closed about 1,100 dealers across the country after it emerged from bankruptcy. The local Jeep dealer was one of those dealerships closed. Those dealers were mostly single-point dealers; that is, a dealer that only sold one brand.

“What they are trying to do is consolidate in smaller, rural areas,” Goetzman said. “They want Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep all under one dealership.”

Goetzman is a family-owned dealership that has been in business in Knox County since 1978.

Goetzman has begun selling the Jeep brand and has several Jeeps on its lot.

“We just got our first delivery,” Goetzman said. “We’ve been able to do service and warranty work on Jeeps for a while, and now we have several in stock.”
