  • Spring has sprung: Now it’s time for fun in the sun

  • March 22, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — The time couldn’t be more perfect to take a trip with the students on spring break — the snow is finally gone and the sun has decided to stay. After being cooped up in the house for the past few months, some place warm, relaxing and fun sounds great.

“Myrtle Beach, Disney and the Florida Keys are always hot spots this time of year,” said Stephanie Wise, sales manager for AAA store in Mount Vernon. “And for people who do a lot of traveling and have a passport, cruises are a big thing this time of year because they’re usually an inexpensive way to go and see a lot of places and get into some warm weather.”

Many of the popular destinations have attractions and entertainment for families and children of all ages.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, Wise suggests a cruise.

“It all depends on what type of experience the couple wants. A lot of the all-inclusive resorts, whether it be in Jamaica or Mexico, are adult only,” said Wise, adding that many of these vacation spots have wonderful beaches and everything is included in the cost.

With the warm weather comes spring break, and of those college students looking to break away from studies and have a little adventure, most head to Florida.

“There really is a lot of diversity in Florida and it’s a place where people can drive to, especially if you have someone helping you to drive,” said Wise. “Most of the college students do like Florida, but some do opt to stay closer.”
