  • New business has flea market feel

  • March 31, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Main Street Exchange has opened at 23 N. Main St. It can best be described as an exhaulted flea market.

It was opened by John Hays who has been doing flea markets for many years.

“I got tired of loading everything up on Saturday, dragging it to a flea market and unloading it,” Hays said. “Then I’d load it back up again, bring it home and unload it. So I thought I might as well just get a little store. That way I’d be open all year-round. I buy, sell and trade.”

Hays has all kinds of things for sale, but one of his biggest sellers is DVD movies.

“I have them cheaper than anyone else,” Hays said. “People come in and buy one for a couple of bucks, watch it and come back and sell it back and get another movie.”
