MOUNT VEFNON — April 13 will see Williams Flower Shop reopening in downtown Mount Vernon. The shop has been closed since the passing of long-time owner Lexi Morr.

The shop has been purchased by Lori Amstutz, and she has partnered with Todd Walter to continue the same services traditionally provided by Williams Flower Shop over the years.

Amstutz began working in the floral business when she got out of high school.

“I have worked in the field since I was 16 and in high school,” she said. “I have been in the business for 31 years. I started at Williams 16 years ago and I have a master FTD designer degree, and I went to the Bill Hickson School of Design in Lakewood. I have been in the business and loved working with Lexi. She did a wonderful job.”

Amstutz decided to take over the business after Morr’s untimely death.

“All of the same girls are going to stay,” she said. “We will have all the same offerings and basically everything will stay the same. We specialize in funeral designs, wedding designs and we’ve added local pottery for sale and other handmade items like quilts. And we have the live plants and the fresh flowers.”

Williams Flower Shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information call 392-2076 during normal business hours.
