  • Students, volunteer honored by school board

  • April 13, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Dan Emmett fifth-graders were featured when the Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education met in regular session Monday. Treasurer Barb Donohue said today that teachers Emily Bradford, Patti Goeppinger and Julie Seng highlighted some of the ways they are working to boost achievement and make fifth grade as inviting as possible for students and parents.

Goeppinger also presented a “Behind the Scenes” award to classroom volunteer Alice Gray, whom the students call “Aunt Alice.” Gray was nominated for the award because she “tirelessly helps with whatever she’s asked to do.”

The board commended Wiggin Street Elementary’s Battle of the Books team, and recognized winter scholar athletes and outstanding winter athletes and their coaches.
