  • Reality store teaches students right choices

  • April 20, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Child care, credit cards, clothing allowances, housing and insurance costs were all things students learned about during Reality Store activities held at Mount Vernon High School on Monday. Seniors from Mount Vernon High School and juniors from the Knox County Career Center rotated through various stations dealing with those and other real money, real world scenarios.

Larry Hall, Knox County OSU Extension educator, said the Reality Store event is part of the Extension’s work force preparation endeavors.

“It is to let the students know, to make them aware of, what their parents are having to pay on a monthly basis,” he said. “When they get out into the real world after graduation they can be better set for making the right choices.”
