MOUNT VERNON — Monday’s Meet the Candidates Night provided a venue for the public to ask questions of the candidates for the Knox County Commissioner’s seat, the 90th District Ohio House of Representatives seat and the 19th District Ohio Senate seat.
Members of the audience were asked to fill out an exit poll on their perception of the forum and if the forum changed their previous opinion about the candidates.
Straw poll results from the evening were:
Patrick Quinn received 44 votes to Margaret Ann Ruhl’s 27 nods of approval in the Republican race for Ruhl’s current seat in the Ohio House.
For the Republican nomination for the Ohio Senate seat, Thom Collier was an overwhelming victor with 66 votes over the six votes for Louis Petro. Republican Kris Jordan did not attend.
The Republican race for Knox County Commissioner had a much tighter outcome. Incumbent Bob Wise received 18 votes, Roger Reed received 19 votes and Tim Smith garnered 23 votes.
A total of 79 responses were turned in following the forum. Of those, 32 guests said the event changed their minds regarding who they would vote for; 24 said it had not.
