  • Fees changed at sheriff’s office

  • April 21, 2010

MOUNT VERNON — Due to the overwhelming increase in the number of fingerprint, record checks and concealed handgun license applications being handled by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the payment of those fees has changed.

According to Sheriff David Barber, effective today fees paid to the sheriff’s office for electronic fingerprint background checks, arrest record checks, rolling of fingerprints, concealed handgun license application, renewal and replacement fees and sex offender registration fees must be made by check, money order or cash, for the exact amount only.

Barber said anyone requesting these services, which the sheriff is mandated to provide, must provide payment in one of the three forms as the office does not accept credit or debit cards, and it will not make change for those paying with cash.
