  • Festival to focus on world, individual health

  • April 22, 2010

GAMBIER — The Earth Day Challenge & Health Expo will be held Sunday at the Kenyon Athletic Center. The free event, sponsored by Kenyon College along with Knox Community Hospital, the Knox County Board of Health and the Knox County Parks District, will focus on two goals that go hand-in-hand: keeping the world and ourselves healthy.

The festival will feature nearly 70 vendors of green, healthy and recyclable products. There will also be a farmers market, and a petting zoo for the children. It will also feature music, door prizes and hands-on activities for all ages.

“We’re really focusing on making it a fun and entertaining atmosphere,” said Heather Doherty, program manager at the Brown Family Environmental Center and coordinator for Earth Day festivities. “There will be an activities zone for the kids. The theme of our event is ‘Healthy People, Healthy World.’ The idea is that things that are good for people and good for the planet are often very similar.
