  • Fire damages stove, cabinet

DANVILLE — A cookstove fire at an apartment in Danville on Wednesday night was quickly knocked down by Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District firefighters. Chief Larry Stimpert said the department was called to the Gail Lumbates home at 207 E. Walnut St., apartment C-14, at 10:23 p.m.

Firefighters confined the fire to the stove and a cabinet above, which had some fire damage. The loss is estimated at $3,000. Firefighters were on the scene just over an hour, according to Stimpert.
