  • Mount Vernon girl struck by car

MOUNT VERNON — According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, a 12-year-old Mount Vernon girl was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of McGibney and Sychar roads.

The accident happened at 4:11 p.m. when Megan Strunk apparently darted into the path of a car driven by Abigail Deweese, 70, Chesterville, MVPD said.

Strunk was transported to Knox Community Hospital where she was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation.
