Students recognized at program
Mount Vernon High School juniors and seniors received awards May 6 at the 48th Annual Kiwanis Club Scholastic Recognition Program. Caleb DeVolld receives the award for a student going into Criminal Justice, donated by the Mount Vernon City Council and Council president. School Superintendent Steve Short presented the awards. Local youth place second
A traveling fifth-grade basketball team, consisting of players from Mount Vernon, Fredericktown and Johnstown, placed second in the 9th Annual Tyger Hoop Classic, hosted by Ohio Youth Basketball recently. The team, coached by Mark Hulse, had a 3-1 record for the tournament.
