UTICA — Due to the continuing bleak economic outlook, the North Fork Board of Education on Monday voted to make further reductions in personnel. After an extended executive session, the board eliminated six certified staff positions, including the activities director, a guidance counselor and five teachers.
It also cut 20 classified staff positions, with board member Robert Krueger voting against both reductions in force.
During the public participation portion of the meeting, several community members expressed concern that teachers were being let go but activities and sports were not being cut.
