“Jesus said there is a time coming when peace would reign. I’m looking forward to that,” Standley said during Monday’s Memorial Day ceremony at Bloomfield Cemetery.

Standley told the crowd of men, women and children that he felt there were two things the average citizen could do for the country’s veterans.

“Don’t let our service or sacrifice be in vain,” he said. “… Care for our veterans that are in need of extra care.”

He also reminded those in attendance to take the opportunity to thank those in active service for their dedication to the country and those around the world who cannot fight for themselves.
