MOUNT VERNON — Everyone loves the great taste of Chinese food — so much so, that Chen’s Buffet & Grill will be the fourth Asian-style restaurant to open in Mount Vernon.
For over 27 years, owner Chen Hui Chen has created a tasteful Asian experience for people to enjoy. Recently he and his wife, Xiu Hua Yang opened the restaurant on Newark Road.
Restaurant manager Steven Sun said that during the two weeks they have been open they have received a lot of customers, especially at lunch time.
“Lunch times are the busiest — we can get over a 100 customers,” he said.
With the addition of crab legs and sea food, weekend buffets have become “very popular,” he added.
“We get a lot of weekend business,” said Sun.
The buffet is a favorite for customers and offers a variety of dishes. Chen’s also offers a full menu with soups, appetizers, chow mein, lo mein, bean curd & vegetables, fried rice, chop suey, egg foo young, and chicken, beef and pork entrees. Customers can also choose from combination platters or from the “Our Chef’s Specialties.”
General Tso’s Chicken, sesame chicken, seafood delight, triple delight, boneless duck and coconut shrimp are very popular among customers, said Sun. Also well liked are sweet and sour chicken, shrimp with mushrooms, chicken with peanuts, black pepper chicken, chicken lo mein, egg rolls, fried wonton, fried dumpling, crab rangoon and teriyaki strip chicken.
Whether spicy or non-spicy, “We can suite to anyone’s taste,” said Sun.
Chen’s offers customers the opportunity to see their meals as they are being made by experienced chefs.
Chen welcomes customers at 120 Newark Road. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, with all-day dinner, noon to 10 p.m.
