FREDERICKTOWN — The village of Fredericktown is exploring every avenue possible to finance its plans to build a second, larger water tower in Fredericktown. Village officials say the second tower is necessary to improve water quality, meet EPA standards for the amount of water stored on hand, and fulfill the needs of current and future industrial needs for water in the village.
Village representatives have been discussing possible funding with legislative representatives from the Ohio State house and Capitol Hill.
Staff members of Sens. George Voinovich and Sherrod Brown and Rep. Zack Space have been invited to hear Fredericktown officials make their case to attract new funding for the project, which is expected to run about $1.3 million, according to Fredericktown Village Administrator Gary Gallogly.
The village is also seeking grant money from the Ohio Public Works Commission, and low-cost loans from the USDA.
“That will reduce the amount of money that our local citizens will have to provide,” said Gallogly.
