New trail dedicated in Bladensburg

Adding on to the Veterans Walk
The Veterans Walk on Public Square is being expanded to include more bricks for veterans. The area is expected to be filled in 20 years. A United Precast crew was starting the work Monday afternon by pouring the concrete sections of the layout. From left, leveling the concrete with a 2-by-4, is Josh Pribonic; kneeling at right, the boss, Dan Dennis, hoes the concrete with Tim Brandstool. Class meshes fine art, technology

Bridge to be replaced
Knox County Assistant Engineer Larry Bechtel, left, talks with R&I Contracting foreman Whitey Florence about this bridge on Gilchrist Road, near Vincent Road over Coleman Run. Work was to start today on the two-month project to replace the bridge. Five other bridges are under construction on Vance, Jelloway, Chapel, Dunham and Montgomery roads, as part of a program that will see 20 new bridges built in the county this summer.
