UTICA — At Monday’s council meeting, the village of Utica honored the late Perma Rice for her dedication and support in the community.
“Perma Rice was a friend of Utica in many aspects, from her work with the historical society to the thousands of hours she donated to the school system, to the many hours she donated to the food pantry,” said Mayor Larry Friesel.
Friesel read the proclamation to the family and friends gathered, many of whom volunteered alongside Rice.
“In honor of her selfless years of dedication and service to the Utica community, I proclaim that on this date and hereafter the Utica Food Pantry shall be know as the Perma Rice Memorial Food Pantry of Utica,” said Friesel.
