  • June 17, 2010 10:19 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — It is official. Nursing and related medical training classes offered through the adult workforce program at the Knox County Career Center will have a new home come fall.

KCCC superintendent Bernie Pachmayer confirmed that the purchase of the property at 1481 Yauger Road, the current site of the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple, was finalized early this week.

Treasurer Tracy Ellliott said the 4.263 acres were appraised at $1.6 million, but the actual purchase price was $1.5 million. No major renovations or remodeling of the existing building are in the works at this time, and Pachmayer said the career center expects to hold its traditional opening day activities in the facility on Aug. 18.
