  • KCESC board enacts changes

  • June 17, 2010 10:19 am EDT

MOUNT VERNON — Two of the resolutions passed Wednesday by the Governing Board of the Knox County Educational Service Center reflect major changes.

After a lengthy discussion, the board approved a rental agreement with the Knox County Career Center for the space it provides to the ESC. Board president Richard McLarnan said the ESC already pays for utilities and custodial services, but “through a fluke,” has not paid rent for its office space in the adult education building, space which was actually constructed with the ESC in mind.

A rental agreement for $6 per square foot was signed when the ESC moved into the space several years ago, McLarnan continued. Although the rental amount was appropriated each year, it was never collected by the career center. McLarnan said one reason could be that the ESC paid $48,000 up front when it took possession of the office space. The newly ratified rental amount is $8 per square foot.
