White gets more than expected from trip

Scout restoring shelter

The Kokosing Gap Trail shelter east of Howard, overlooking Jelloway Creek, is being restored this summer due to the efforts of Erik Stage. Stage, a member of Troop 348 of the Boy Scouts of America, chose the restoration of the shelter as his Eagle Scout project. The first phase of the restoration was recently completed and required Stage to assemble a team of volunteers and secure the supplies for shingling the shelter. Volunteer roofers include, from left, Ed Stage, Kristopher Durtschi (top), Austin Stage, Jay Durtschi, John Stultner, Erik Stage, Donna Stage and Walter Kelling.
