An 82-year-old Mount Vernon man said he had two uninvited men enter his home last Saturday under similar circumstances as a Howard woman, reported earlier this week by the News.

In a break with past year’s the traditional turkey dinner at the Danville-Howard Turkey Festival, the namesake poultry was replaced with a barbecued chicken dinner. The move was a popular one for the most part.

Passing through the pathway of hope, survivors and caregivers were greeted with hugs and a medallion during the opening ceremony of the Knox County Relay for Life.

As they did last year, pupils at Wiggin Street Elementary swept the elementary divisions in the 2010 Mount Vernon City Schools Japanese-inspired art contest.
“It seems impossible that we could be six months into things, but we still have hope,” Pastor Bob Pelfrey said of the investigation into the homicide of Jean Davis. She was found shot to death outside her Dennis Church Road six months ago Sunday.
