  • Centerburg home damaged by fire

CENTERBURG — The Central Ohio Joint Fire District responded to a structure fire at 6407 Johnstown Road early Friday morning.

According to Lt. David Miller, the officer in charge at the scene, the fire district was dispatched at 5:49 a.m. The fire was contained at 6:30.

The home is the residence of Shawna and David Abrams, according to Miller.

The fire was limited to a room and its contents.

The fire is still under investigation by COJFD Chief Joe Porter and the department’s fire investigation unit. There is no information at this time about the cause of the fire or the extent of damage to the structure.

A member of the family was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Home Fire Department assisted with a squad while the Mount Vernon Fire Department supplied an engine.
