MOUNT VERNON — Students at the Knox County Career Center are once again the beneficiaries of a successful raid on local marijuana growing operations. On behalf of the horticulture lab, the board of education on Thursday accepted the donation of confiscated supplies (excluding marijuana plants or seeds) from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Treasurer Tracy Elliott said the large quantity of items included, but was not limited to, grow lights, fertilizer and insecticide.

The board also heard good news about the Adult Workforce programs. A quality assurance review team from North Central Accreditation visited the adult education building in April, and director Jane Marlow shared the findings of that visit with the board. The focus of the review was on ways to attain high student performance and organizational effectiveness.
