MOUNT VERNON —The Girlie Spot,
a proposed new store on Public Square, was the topic that started off the monthly
Up For Discussion on Monday night.
One man said he felt the store should be allowed in, that there was an element
of Big Brother trying to find a reason to justify not allowing it. He said the
market should determine whether the store survives; if customers patronize it,
OK. If they don’t, the store closes.
Another man agreed it should be allowed to try and see how it does.
“Let it happen on the merits of the place and see what happens,” he
said. “I don’t like the idea of looking for a technical reason to
not let it open.”
