  • Collecting bedsheets for flood victims

  • June 25, 2010 11:56 am EDT

AMITY — One thousand sets of bedsheets have been collected locally for distribution to victims of the recent flood in Tennessee. Leading the collection drive is the Amity United Methodist Church and its pastor, Philip McMurrin. The collection is ongoing until Saturday.

McMurrin said the idea for the collection came from his sister, who lives in Ashland City, Tenn., about 35 minutes west of Nashville. The city is situated on the Cumberland River and was heavily damaged by the flood. Sheet sets of all sizes, as well as lots of little items lost in the flood, are needed for those trying to regroup. Towels, washcloths and blankets are also needed.
