CENTERBURG — Little Miss Liberty and Little Uncle Sammy 2010 were announced Thursday at the Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival.

The finalists took to the stage in Centerburg’s Memorial Park and awaited the final results. Finalists for Little Uncle Sammy included Colvin Guthrie, age 4, and Zachary Taylor, age 6. Little Miss Liberty contestants were Trinity Stockberger, age 6, Jacelyn Moore, age 6, and Nevaeh O’Riley, age 4.

Candy McCracken introduced each youngster and asked him or her one question. McCracken said votes for contestants were 1 cent each; this year’s contestants raised a total of $1,800. The money is used for community projects.

Nevaeh won the Little Miss Liberty crown and Colvin was “hatted’ by the 2009 Little Uncle Sammy, Blake Johnson. Miss Liberty and Uncle Sammy, along with all of the finalists, will ride in Saturday’s parade. Prizes for the contest were provided by First Federal Savings and Loan, FTH Florist, Kristi’s Bakery, Tradye Machine & Tool Inc. and Heart of Ohio Women’s Club.
