Shelby Cobras

Drivers of about a dozen replicas of the Shelby Cobra stopped on Public Square in Mount Vernon on Friday morning for a break. They were on a tour through central Ohio and, along with many other Cobras, will be at the London Strawberry Festival today. Mike and Lisa Bare from Rushville, Ind., stand beside their Cobra. Bare said the owners are not members of a club, but a group of owners from several states who communicate and get together via the Internet for various events.   (Virgil Shipley)

Special Olympics Torch Run

Members of Ohio law enforcement’s Torch Run Around Ohio ran and biked through Mount Vernon and Centerburg on Friday en route to the site of the games this weekend at Jesse Owens Stadium at Ohio State University as a fundraising activity for 23,000 handicapped Special Olympics athletes.
