MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon City Council was short and to the point Monday night, as council members met to pass routine legislation.

Council adopted a modified tax budget for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2011. The budget estimates the revenue to be received in 2011 for the general fund, and police and fire funds.

City auditor Terry Scott said the budget reflects a three-tenths percent increase over 2010.

“I think all of us in the real world realize it won’t be too much different than 2010,” he said.

Council also authorized a bill from Community Development Consultants of Ohio, administrators of the Community Development Block Grants, be paid; money from The Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County be appropriated; and money transferred between several accounts.
