Over the river
The old Big Run bridge east of Gambier is going back together after an over-the-winter refurbishing. It was dismantled last summer and taken to Cambridge, where the Ohio Bridge Co. sandblasted it. Then a Columbus firm galvanized the metal. The historic bridge was manufactured by the old Mount Vernon Bridge Co. The bridge will have a wood floor, to give pedestrians a scenic view of the Kokosing River. (Virgil Shipley)

DeZign 1 wins Philo Tournament
The DeZign 1 8 & Under softball team won the champioship of the Philo Stars and Stripes tournament in Duncan Falls over the weekend. After defeating New Lexington in the first game, 18-0, DeZign 1 scored a 13-2 win over Tri-Valley. A 23-6 victory over Maysville put the team in the semifinals, where it shut out Zanesville, 16-0. Facing Tri-Valley again in the finals, DeZign 1 finished off the tournament with an 18-7 victory.
