MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon News Publisher Kay Culbertson is pleased to announce News Managing Editor Samantha Scoles has been promoted to run the day-to-day operations of the News’ editorial department.

“Samantha is well known and involved with the Knox County community,” said Culbertson. “She has played a key role in gathering and writing for the Mount Vernon News. In addition to writing, she has spearheaded our video department. She has done a great job for us through the years and I look forward to continued growth and quality news reporting.”

A 1988 graduate of East Knox High School, Scoles went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English from Ohio University in 1993. She has worked a total of 12 years with the News in positions including typist, business editor, city editor and special projects director before being named managing editor in 2008.
