Barnyard friends
A pair of barn owls nested in a silo on a Knox County farm this summer with these six young ones a result. When approached by humans, the owls make a distinctive sound to ward off intruders. Barn owls nest in secluded places and hunt at night; they are not often seen. These owls are nearly grown and will soon leave their farm nest 40 feet above of silage in the silo. (Virgil Shipley)
