Work stalled on restaurant

There has not been much work done on the new Bob Evans Restaurant on Coshocton Road over the last several months. The opening had been scheduled for late summer but has been moved back to early 2011 according to Chelsea Hamilton, public relations director for Bob Evans Restaurants. “There are many exciting features and a new look that will come with development of this restaurant,” she said. “Our development team is working hard to ensure that the design and functionality of the restaurant will please the community of Mount Vernon as well as create an efficient space for the restaurant team to work and serve guests.”   (George Breithaupt)

Wheat ready to be threshed

Amish farmers cling to the old ways of farming. This field on Blair Road, northwest of Fredericktown, has much of the wheat crop cut with a binder into sheaves and placed in shocks to cure. The wheat will later be threshed by an old-fashioned threshing machine. The binder, pictured at right, is pulled by horses. Wednesday afternoon it was found sittling idle in the field.  (Virgil Shipley)
