MOUNT VERNON — With obedience, showmanship (grooming and handling) and agility performed and judged pre-fair, all that was left to do at Monday’s Dog Show was present awards.
Makenzie Laipply with her dog Bo placed first in the first-year on-lead category for competitive agility, followed by Megan Ryals and Natasha Johnson in second and third, respectively.
In the first-year off-lead category for competitive agility, Durbin took gold with dog Ernie. Kalianne Clark and Melissa Layton placed second and third in the category, respectively.
Earning first in the second-year on-lead category of competitive agility was Kayla Melvin with her dog, Molly. Melvin was followed by second-place winner Joey Sohn and third-place winner Anesha Tharp.
Brienna Maners took first in the second-year off-lead category of competitive agility with her dog, Lil Bear. Lindsay Wertz placed second and Anevin Tharp placed third.
Placing first in the Novice A category of the obedience rally competition was dog Riley with handler Lindsay Wertz. Trevin Wood and Marissa Davis took second and third, respectively.
In the Novice B category of obedience rally competition Becca Trumble placed first with her dog, Sasha; followed closely by Anevin Tharp and Dan Hohman.
Anevin Tharp also placed first in the Advanced A category of the competition with her dog Adam.
Impressing judges with flips and turns during the tricks competition was Heather Fredenburg with dog, Kuma, for the beginners category. Maggie Parshall placed second.
Performing advanced tricks for the judges was Maners with Lil Bear. Maners placed first.
In the grooming and handling category Emily Derikito placed first with her dog Shoe for the Junior A section. Ryanna Cline and Christian Hoeflich placed second and third, respectively.
